Wave-Powered Monitor Is Moving Beyond Listening to Whales

In 2005, two engineers began to create a device to help listen to the calls of humpback whales. Finally created, it was now determined that this device can become a powerful tool in understanding climate change and monitoring the high seas. Th National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association wants full-funding testing of the glider and hopes to use it to monitor the extent of the ocean's level of carbon-dioxide. Besides this, other potential uses for the glider are mapping the seafloor, improve tsunami warning systems and monitoring coastal pollution.
